Austin is our odd little fellow. His big ears, flat sloped nose and big belly make him easy to distinguish from the rest of the group. His big belly is due to a hearty appetite and bloating which makes walking along narrow tree limbs difficult for him so he takes to the ground for transportation more than the average monkey.
When Austin was transferred to SIBU in July 2015, he struggled with separation anxiety. He wanted to be with a human at all times, an unfortunate side-effect of being orphaned as an infant combined with an insecure nature. However, Austin has recently found comfort in his new enclosure with playmates Loopy, Starling and Joyce, who have helped him outgrow his emotional dependence on humans and brought out his playful side. He is now also known for his excessive playful head shaking. We are very proud of Austin’s progress!
