Annie was electrocuted in September 2017 close to Manuel Antonio. She was rescued by the Kids Saving the Rainforest organization who provided the care she needed. Her left side was paralysed after the electrocution and had to have 3 vertebres removed from her tail. Being the only howler at the center, she was becoming depressed.
She was then transferred to Sibu where she would be surrounded by other howlers. A special habitat was configured specifically for her disability needs for safety and rehabilitation and where she could experience getting back her strength and mobility. With physical therapy, she has now regained the use of her left side and was just transferred in a large enclosure where she enjoys climbing everyday and chills in the sun.
